The Coppice 50
In the Spring of 2018, we began redesigning our curriculum. During of the process of examining the skills, knowledge and experience our children need, the idea for the Coppice 50 was born.
These are fifty key experiences we believe all children should have before they leave primary school. Why? Because building character and developing a positive disposition, while expanding your horizons, are essential to success in life.
We pride ourselves at Coppice Valley, on teaching children how to learn and to love learning too. To be a learner for life, you have to be resilient to failure, resourceful when faced with challenges, reciprocal when working when others and reflective of your own performance. Many of our Coppice 50 experiences have been chosen to develop these attitudes.
Some of our Coppice 50 activities are social, moral, spiritual or cultural experiences, chosen to enhance the breadth and balance of our curriculum. We want all our children to leave Coppice Valley as well-round young people, equipped for secondary school and the wider world.
