Welcome back! We hope your child had a fantastic summer break and that they are looking forward to all the things we have planned for them this year.

Here is some information about what your child will be learning this term.

Start of the Day Please escort your child to the playground by 8:55, where they will be collected by their teacher. Please do not wait on the patio.

End of Day KS2 children finish at 3.30pm. Parents should wait outside the class door as usual but KS2 children are expected to be responsible for coming to you. An adult will be about to make sure everyone is collected. Please do come up to the patio rather than waiting outside the fence or in your car as we need to be able to see that children are leaving with the correct adult. If you want your child to leave the premises unaccompanied please put this in writing for us. If someone else is picking up your child you must tell us, call school as soon as you can or send a note.

Please provide a named water bottle with a sports cap (so we don’t have any spillages) so your child can have a drink  throughout the day. If you would like to purchase one from school, these can be bought from the office for £1.

Homework

Your child will be given maths homework each week to do with the topic we have been studying that week. The children will also have a homework grid with a choice of 12 different tasks that they must complete throughout the term. Some of these tasks make take longer than one week but others maybe shorter.

What your child will be learning about in each subject this half term:

Art and Design - Propaganda posters; sewing and fabric craft

Music - Playing Instruments & Performance

SCIENCE – Animals including humans; evolution and inheritance

GEOGRAPHY – Countries and Capitals of Europe

MUSIC –  Rhythm & Pulse

I.C.T. – E-safety and programming

P.E.  Invasion games - Football/Hockey

RE – What will make our community more tolerant and respectful?

PHSCE – New beginnings

FRENCH – My Family; The Cafe

ENGLISH— We are learning stories off by heart and how to be imaginative to include our own ideas.

 MATHS— Place value

PE kit- Please make sure your child has full P.E kit the whole week as PE will be on a variety of days. They need indoor and outdoor kit please – white or house colour plain T-shirt,  blue/black shorts, blue/black tracksuit and trainers are essential items. If your child has a medical reason for not participating in PE, you must send a note in. As you can imagine, we do get children saying they are not allowed to do PE! It is impossible for us to know who is genuinely unable without your note.

The class email addresses are not checked every day so if you want to contact us about something urgent such as attendance then please ring the office. If your child would like to send a homework project in for example, please send this to the class e-mail address.

If you would like to discuss anything with your child's class teacher, please speak with them on the playground at the beginning of the day or at the end of the school day when you collect your child. As we only have limited time at these times, please make an appointment with the teacher if you have something longer you wish to discuss.
