Friday Update

Message from Miss McNamara
We have had another lovely week at Coppice Valley and you will have seen that our Community Hub is almost finished. A huge thank you to our site manager Greg, who has worked his socks off (and scratched his head a few times) to get it up. We are really looking forward to launching this and all the things we will have to offer our school community. Watch this space!
This week, our new outdoor furniture from IKEA arrived. Hopefully you will have seen on our social media that we won a National competition through our fantastic video submission made by our Eco-Councillors, Mrs Wright, Mrs Nalder and Miss Hawkins. We will have enough seating for a class to sit outside and we are looking forward to even more options to learn outdoors. A big shout-out to all the parent volunteers who are coming in to put it all together next week - thank you and don't forget to BYOAK (bring-your-own-allen-key)!
On Tuesday 30th, we have our Family Breakfast in the school hall from 8:15am. We will have Harrogate Library and Feast attending the breakfast and so you can learn about what they have to offer our community too.
Year 5
Some of you may have spotted that we have recently advertised for a KS2 teacher. This is because Mrs Gunn, our Year 5 teacher, is embarking on a new challenge. She will be taking some time away from teaching to focus on family and explore the potential of one of her hobbies - pottery! We are really excited for this new path and we hope to see Mrs Gunn returning to events at Coppice, with a pottery stall!
Last Friday, we appointed Mr Whaite to be the Year 5 class teacher, starting in September. Mr Whaite currently works as a KS2 class teacher in York and is really looking forward to joining Coppice.

Clothes Bank
We have raised over £1000 from the School Connect clothes bank we have outside school this year. This money is from our community and so we think we should give it back. We will be updating you on how this is being spent and some of the funds will be used to support maintaining our Community Hub. In the meantime, keep delving deep into the back of your wardrobes!
Roof Rebels
We occasionally have teenagers who climb onto our roof. When this happens, we report this to the police. We love our school, our community space and our solar panels. Our solar panels supply energy not just to our school, but to other schools across the Trust, as part of our commitment to sustainability. There was no damage caused in the most recent incident, but we still want to deter this behaviour.
If you have any information, please contact the school office who can give you our latest crime reference number.
