Coppice Valley Primary School (92)

The death of HRH Queen Elizabeth II

The death of our Queen, whether a supporter of the monarchy or not, is a seminal moment for the nation. The Queen was a steadfast leader, honourable and hardworking; a role model for many. As an institution that forms a part of Her Majesty’s government, the school will be sending official condolences to Buckingham Palace. If you would like some advice about talking to your child about the Queen’s death then Winston’s Wish has some excellent support.

Our bike-a-thon event was cancelled today as a mark of respect and we held a special whole school assembly to talk about the death of the Queen and what it means to us. On Monday, I will be following this up in assembly, with a celebratory look at the Queen’s life and her achievements. On Tuesday, our Family Breakfast will go ahead because, as a community event that brings people together, it feels appropriate and in keeping with the tone of the official mourning period.

Over the coming weeks, we will be talking with the children about ideas for ways to create a suitable tribute or memorial for the Queen’s life.

Gardening Team

Could you spare or morning or afternoon every couple of weeks to volunteer in our Gardening Team? We are trying to get a group of parents, grandparents, friends or neighbours together to help Mr Hall with simple tasks like weeding, cutting back and planting. Please email Mrs Taylor at to express interest.
