Coppice Valley Catering

11 June 2019 (by schoollogin)

As promised last term we have some very exciting news about our school catering operation.

From September we are moving our catering ‘in house’, this will be supported by the multi award winning Red Kite Learning Trust Executive Chef, Dave Carrack and his team of talented operational staff. We will be launching new menus with almost all produce being made from scratch on the premises.

Our catering team will be producing healthy food that is colourful, tempting and vibrant. Using local suppliers, they will source the highest quality meats, fruits and vegetables whilst ensuring traceability & ethics.

We will provide two or three hot meal options every day (one will always be a vegetarian), plus jacket potatoes, sandwiches, salads, breads and sides, giving even the fussiest eater an opportunity to dine with us. The hot food will be served to the children by the catering team and then they will be able to help themselves to salads, breads and sides. All of this will continue to cost only £2.20 per day.

Being self-managed we will have the flexibility to respond to requests and feedback. We are planning opportunities over this half term to give parents, carers and children the chance to share our new dishes through taster sessions and school events.

Our team will take part in student councils and interact with the children in the dining hall to find out their views to help adapt our menus accordingly. We are responsible for maintaining a menu that follows the Healthy Schools Guidelines, providing easy to follow allergen information.

Please watch out for further information coming home about this exciting news!
