Key Stage 2 Team
I have a bachelor’s degree in French and Italian from the University of Exeter. As part of my degree I spent a year living in Paris and teaching English in two French secondary schools. After graduating I worked in the charity sector for a couple of years before starting my teacher training. I completed my teacher training with Red Kite including my PGCE with the University of Leeds.
I started volunteering at school when my children were at Coppice Valley over 30 years ago. I have now been an Advanced Teaching Assistant for 22 years. I really enjoy working with the children and feel that I can have a positive impact on a pupil's education. I have learnt while in the job and over the years, I have been on many courses to help me gain my experience in working with the children to help them flourish and grow. Out of school I enjoy my family life, I now have three grandchildren which I adore.
I graduated from the University of Hull with a BA Hons in Primary Teaching in 2014. At university I specialised in Maths and have taken part in research for which I was accredited as a NCETM training lead. I am currently English lead, where I have recently partaken in the National Professional Qualification For Middle Leaders to support the role.
I joined the Coppice Family in September 1999. After I started working in school I continued my own education by taking levels 1, 2, and 3 Teaching Assistant courses and then progressed further and did a three year Foundation degree in Early Years, concentrating on development and education of young children, which I accomplished in 2007. During the same year I also studied and achieved the Higher Level Teaching Assistant status.
I’m the year 5 teacher here at Coppice, I have a degree in Physiological science. Before teaching, I was a research scientist in the field of genetics. Outside of school, I have two children, three dogs and I enjoy all things craft related.
I am trained higher level teaching assistant. I have been working as a teaching assistant here at Coppice since 2010 . I am Full first aid trained with anaphylaxis and allergens training as a separate certificate. Over the past 11 years I have taken part in countless courses to help and support the education, health and well being of the children. I work predominantly in year 6 but also support all the other classes. I help run the Breakfast and Afterschool club with Mrs Batty. Three of my four children attended Coppice and that is how my journey and support started, 15 years ago.
With a degree in Film Production, I taught filmmaking to children in America over 4 summers. Realising I loved working with children, I then went on to gain my PGCE in Primary Teaching. I still dabble in filmmaking and make videos for Coppice to share a glimpse into school life. I'm a keen artist and passionate art subject leader.
I am an Advanced Teaching Assistant at Coppice Valley Primary in Year 5. I joined the Coppice family in 2014 working in EYFS, in the past 7 years I have experience working in Years 1, 4 and 6. I also run Young Voices which I really enjoy, seeing the children's confidence grow is extremely rewarding. Both my children have been on fantastic journeys through Coppice Valley, giving them a great head start for secondary school.
