Friday Message from Miss McNamara

Message from Miss McNamara

Of course, this week's highlight has been World Book Day! The costumes were very inventive and it was such fun guessing which word everyone was dressed as. There was no denying that Mrs Fineran was sparkly! We had a fantastic assembly led by Miss Dodd and the children had the chance to parade around the hall in their costumes. Today, we also had an assembly led by students from Leeds University, to celebrate International Women's Day, as well as Harrogate Town Football Club leading girls' football sessions.

Mrs Hardy and Mrs Brook have started their Forest School training at Harlow Carr - we are really excited for everything the training is going to bring to our school. We are looking forward to being able to do even more activities outside and developing our current Nature School offer. This week, they learnt about different types of knots and are busy planning the three course meal they will need to cook over a campfire, as part of their assessment in November.

Next week, we are looking forward to our Parents' Meetings. Please make sure you have booked an appointment.

Attendance

Expected school attendance is 95% or more (set by the DfE) however, we have a school attendance target of 97%.

Your child's attendance report card is available on the Arbor Portal.

This week's attendance is: 98.35% - best week so far!

School year so far: 95.5% (we are climbing up!)

Our registers close at 9am and so your child will miss their attendance mark, if they arrive after this time.

This week, 11 children have been late to school.

Health and Safety

With the roadworks and resurfacing in the area, we have had an increase in injuries on the way to school. If your child comes to school by themselves, please discuss the saftest route options, especially if this has changed with the resurfacing, encourage crossing at the dropped curbs and ensure they wear helmets on bikes and scooters.

Cloakrooms

Over Easter, we will be doing some works in our KS2 cloakrooms to make them breakout spaces from the classroom. Pease encourage your child to bring a small school bag to school, so we can optimise the space we have for learning and reduce the number of coat racks we need to accommodate larger bags.

School Council Wacky Dress - Friday 22nd  March

On Friday 22nd March, we will be having a dress down day. You will be able to come to school in your wacky clothes. We are asking for a minimum donation of £1 and this money will go towards buying new toys for each class to use at playtimes.
