Welcome to Beech class, Year 1 at Coppice Valley Primary

Welcome to Beech class, Year 1 at Coppice Valley Primary. We have a wonderful autumn term ahead. We have a geography focus as we learn about our school within our wider world. Complementing that learning, we explore seasons, everyday materials, and keep a weather diary in science. We will enhance our creativity by experimenting with wax resist and pastel art techniques. We develop our creative writing skills by making postcards, wanted posters, and instructions to care for our own ‘Wild thing’. Our writing is inspired by classic and award-winning texts like ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ and ‘Martha Maps it Out’; children will also be exploring poetry by Michael Rosen and vocabulary within our super six-story texts. A big part of everyday will be around our Little Wandle phonics lessons and math mastery with plenty of time to read and use our amazing outdoor space for practical learning. Beech class will also be able to choose their own learning through play, creativity, experiments, music, and discussion.

We will be kind, we will aim high, and we will work hard.

Key information:

• PE day is Monday and Forest School is Friday.

  Drop-off time is between 8:45am - 8.55am. Pick-up time is between 3:25. Please drop off and collect your child from the Beech class door - this is accessed on the other side of school to EYFS although the doors are next to each other. 

• Please inform us if somebody different is picking your child up from school.

• Please make sure your child brings their own water bottle to school each day.
