Our Vision and Ethos
At Coppice Valley, our aim is to inspire our pupils to love learning. We believe in the power of education to change lives for the better through learning and meaningful experiences. Good relationships are at heart of our school - our ethos is warm, supportive and family friendly.
Our purpose is to nurture the growth of the whole child – socially, emotionally and academically - during their journey with us at Coppice Valley. Our curriculum is enriched with experiences and learning that build character, extend cultural knowledge and develop social, moral and spiritual learning. Coppice Valley is unique in our area of Harrogate as we are fortunate to have extensive grounds tucked away from the main roads. Our curriculum is designed to make good use of our grounds for our everyone in the community.
We live in a diverse world and our pupils, staff and community is diverse. We want our children to recognise that other people, with their differences in protected characteristics, should be respected. We want to celebrate diversity whilst reinforcing the importance, and the need, to talk and challenge any behaviour that is unfair, derogatory or discriminatory.
Equality and fairness, as well as the school value of kindness are vital to our vision and ethos. We expect our staff, children and the families with whom we work, to uphold these core beliefs. We recognise that there is always work to be done in making our community as inclusive as possible and we strive to develop and implement changes where necessary.
Our Values - Brave, Curious and Kind
Our values make us who we are and help us to stay focused on what we do and how we do it. After consulting our community, we have decided that our love for learning, seeking out new challenges, showing courage when learning is hard and our commitment to kindness is reflected in the values, Brave, Curious and Kind.
