Message from Miss McNamara
This week we want to say thank you to all of our parents and carers for helping the school run smoothly on Thursday, whilst collection arrangements changed for the snow. It was really helpful that you were prompt with collecting your children and had patience whilst you waited for us to get your children ready. It is important that we keep children calm whilst we change routines in school, as this can be really challenging for some pupils.
A huge congratulations to our Brave, Kind and Curious award winners. These children have been noticed by their class teachers, being ambassadors of our school values.
Beech: Logan and Freda
Ash: Solayman and Elena
Sycamore: Harland and Alfie
Apple: Kyran and Evelyn
Chesnut: Luke and Phoebe
Willow: Oliver and Henry
We hope you have a wonderful half term and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday 19 February.
Children's Mental Health Week
This week we had as assembly from RHS about mental health. They talked to the children about looking after themselves, looking after plants and how doing this can help with our own wellbeing. This week we also launched our new Wellbeing Toolkit, which every child now has in their tray. This is a personal toolkit, which they will build upon and reflect on as they move through school. The aim is for children to know what techniques and strategies benefit them the most and to practise these to support their own wellbeing, as they face future challenges.
Young Voices
We know that it was really disappointing for children and families that we did not attend the Young Voices concert yesterday.
Decisions like that are never easy; the knowledge that school decisions impact on the safety of others is a heavy burden. The safety of children, staff and our wider community is paramount.
The children's hard work will not go to waste and we are working hard to secure another date with Young Voices. If this cannot be done, we will put on a school performance. Details to follow as soon as we can.
Parent Council Coffee Morning
On Monday 4th March we are hosting our first Parent Council coffee morning. It is an invitation to our parents to mingle, have a chat and get to know other parents. We will send more details after the half term, but for now, pop the date in your diary!
World Book Day
On Thursday 7th March, we will be celebrating World Book Day with a range of exciting activities in school. This year, we will be asking children to dress up as a word again.
We hope this means that you won't need to buy anything and that you can select from the fancy dress items you already have at home. We will be posting some simple ideas on our social media in the lead up to the day.
Attendance
- We have a school target for our attendance of 97%.
- This week's attendance is: 96.5%
- School year so far: 95.2%
- Arriving after 8:55am, which is when registers are taken, affects attendance. Our registers close at 9am.
- This week, 15 children have been late to school.
