Friday Update 24.5.24

Posted 24th May 2024

A Message from Miss McNamara

This week, we are incredibly impressed with Oak Class and the EYFS staff! On Wednesday, despite the torrential rain, they visited Born of the Forest. They got absolutely soaked, but had an absolutely brilliant time! Oak Class made us very proud as they showcased everything they have learned through our nature school and demonstrated great resilience in coping with the rain. A big thank you to the staff who organised and attended the trip, doing so with big smiles. We even had to ring ahead and warn the coach company about how muddy they would be!

Today, we celebrated our pupils through our Values Assembly. At the end of each half-term, we award special certificates to children who have exemplified the school values. This half-term, these children have impressed their teachers:

Oak: The whole class for their resilience, communication skills and love of mud!

Year 1: Matilda and Jake

Year 2: Leonardo and Anastasia

Year 3: Royal and Sami

Year 4: Logan and Scarlett

Year 5: Lacey and Gracie

Year 6: Luca and Riley

Thank you!

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated towards Emily's skydive - we raised £660 for the school and we will be spending this on developing the garden at the front of the Community Hub.

Our grounds are beautiful and we are always looking to develop and we need support with this. Our community allotment (at the front of school next to the sensory path) is a space for everyone to enjoy. We welcome everyone to come and help manage our allotment, as part of our community.

Assessments

After the half-term holiday, there will be the phonics screening check for Year 1 and the multiplication check for Year 4.

These assessments provide children with an opportunity to demonstrate their learning and are designed to be positive experiences.

If you have a child in either of these year groups, the class teacher has already sent information to you about the assessments. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the class teachers.

Parking

We have received some information from the Harrogate Inner Neighbourhood Policing, who are planning a week of action for the week beginning 15/07/2024. The team will be focussing on safety around schools, specifically focussing on parking awareness and speed under a new operation named Operation Traffic.

As a school, we have previously requested a zebra crossing to help our pupils cross safely. I am hopeful that this initiative will serve as a catalyst for installing white lines (rather than yellow) to enhance the safety of our children as they travel to and from school.

We appreciate your co-operation in helping make drop-off and pick-up times safe for our children.
