Friday Update - 28.02.2025

Posted 28th February 2025

Miss McNamara's Message

It has been a very busy first week back at Coppice—we can’t quite believe it’s only week one! We kicked things off with a lively staff meeting focused on all things curriculum, and I have also attended two brilliant professional development sessions with RKLT and RKLT Connect. We are really lucky to have such enthusiastic and motivated staff who are committed to high-quality CPD - we know the positive impact this has on our pupils.

Next week is shaping up to be just as exciting! We are thrilled to finally bring our long-planned tree planting project to life. After nearly a year of planning and securing grants, every child in school will have the opportunity to plant a tree on Wednesday, 5th March. Please ensure they bring a coat and a change of trainers or wellies. The project will take eight days, with a variety of trees being planted to create a nature trail around the edge of our school field. This initiative is part of our wider school improvement plan to enhance our outdoor environment and playtimes.

In addition, we have World Book Day celebrations to look forward to, with plenty of activities to inspire a love of reading. We’ll also be hosting Stories After School, a special event where children and families can enjoy shared storytelling in a cosy setting.

Another key event next week is our Pupil Voice Conference, where we will be speaking to pupils about all things Coppice Valley—listening to their ideas, thoughts, and perspectives on their school experience.

It’s going to be a fantastic week!

New sign - made by Year 5 and Artizan!

MOsaic

Our amazing Year 5 students teamed up with Artizan last term to create this stunning mosaic for our school. We couldn't think of a better spot to showcase it than right at the front entrance. We're incredibly proud of our students for dedicating their time and effort to craft something so beautiful that will be cherished for years to come!

PTFA Newsletter

The PTFA are wanting to run a Colour Run in September. A Colour Run is a fun run where participants start off wearing light coloured t-shirts that are showered in colour powder as they run through the course. It's non-competitive and perfect for school communities and runners of all ages and abilities. Please could you fill out this form to help the PTFA make decisions as to whether a Colour Run would be successful at Coppice Valley. We are currently aiming for this event to take place on Saturday 13th of September 2025.

We will only be able to run this event successfully if we can secure enough guaranteed volunteers for the day. To support with this, please complete the following form to help us make decisions for the Colour Run: Please click here for the form.

Key Dates for PTFA events:
  • Healthy Tuck Shop - Last Friday of every month - Next couple of dates - 28th March, 25th April. Don't forget to bring £1!

Cats around school

We have some furry visitors on our school grounds! 🐱 While they're very cute, please help us to remind our children to:

  1. Be Gentle: No chasing or loud noises.
  2. No Feeding: It keeps them coming back!
  3. Respect Their Space: Give them room to roam.

We're working on keeping the cats away during school hours, however help outside of school hours when on our school site would be fantastic.
