Message from Miss McNamara
We have important news to share with our school community today. It is with a mix of emotions that I tell you our Deputy Head, Mr Cawte, who has been an invaluable member of Coppice Valley for the past 12 years, is leaving our school at the end of this term. Mr Cawte made the decision to leave Coppice Valley before the departure of Mrs Meadus, but decided to stay on to support me in my new role as Head this term.
Before the summer break, Mr Cawte decided to embark on a new opportunity that aligns with his personal and professional aspirations. We understand and support his decision but know that we will be saying farewell to a much-respected member of our leadership team. I would like to personally thank Mr Cawte for choosing to stay on throughout the autumn term to support the school.
Throughout his time at Coppice Valley, Mr Cawte has been an exceptional educator, leader, and advocate for our children, staff, and the school community. His unwavering commitment and dedication have played a pivotal role in our school's growth and success, and his presence will be greatly missed.
Please be assured that we are fully committed to ensuring a seamless transition and maintaining the high standards of education and care that you expect from our school. In the upcoming weeks, we will be working to appoint a Deputy Head to start in January 2024; we will keep you updated throughout this process.
At this time, we ask that you join us in expressing our gratitude to Mr Cawte for his service to our school and extend our best wishes for his success in his future endeavours. His impact on our school community will leave a lasting legacy, and we are truly appreciative of his contributions.
Thank you for your continued support.

Road Safety
This morning, we had a member of the public contact us to say they nearly hit a pupil with their vehicle. I have reminded children in assembly about safety on their way to school and we have contacted our PSCO to come and deliver road safety training to our Key Stage 2 pupils. We would appreciate it if you could talk to your children at home about the safest route and safest places for them to cross, especially if they walk to school without an adult.
Coppice Valley Wishlist
To continue to develop and grow our libraries and class reading corners, we have a Coppice Valley Wishlist. You can purchase a book for the school, and we will add a bookplate to recognise your donation. These books cover reading for pleasure but will also support our Coppice curriculum.
How does it work?
- Click on the wishlist: Amazon.co.uk.
- Select a book and add it to your basket in the normal way you would on Amazon.
- Purchase the book, ensuring that the delivery address says ‘Wish List’s Gift Registry Address’. If this isn’t an option, please put in the school address.
- The book will be delivered to school.
Bronze Award - Investors in Families
We are delighted to tell you that we have achieved the Bronze Award! Investors in Families (IIF) is a quality mark that recognises the work that schools undertake with families to improve outcomes for children and young people. A huge thank you to Mrs Wright for her hard work and commitment to this goal.
The quality mark is awarded to schools that demonstrate a commitment to working with families and evidence of the activities that demonstrate close working with families.
We are now working towards achieving the Silver Award and we look forward to the new opportunities for working alongside our families that this will bring.
Silver Award, Harrogate in Bloom
We are pleased to have been awarded 'silver' for the Harrogate in Bloom competition, which took place in the summer term. 40% of the marks are for horticulture, 30% of the marks are for environmental matters and 30% of the marks are for community matters. We are delighted to have achieved this and once again, thank Mrs Wright for her hard work.
Disabled Parking
Please only use the disabled space in the car park if you are a blue badge holder. We have parents/carers who need this space but are sometimes unable to use it.
Kind regards,
Miss McNamara
