Friday newsletter from Coppice Valley

Message from Miss McNamara
We have had another great week at Coppice Valley, despite the weather! The English Hub have been into school to see teachers deliver phonics lessons and they were really impressed with children's knowledge . We have also been looking at children's English books and we have been really impressed with learning in the grammar, writing and reading books, as well as the skill progression demonstrated by the children already this year.
This week, we would like to thank our parents for all the clothing donations to our bank outside of school. These have already earnt the school £75, since September. I would like this money to go back into the community and so we will be updating you soon with how we intend to do this. In the meantime, please keep donating and encouraging friends and family to do the same.
Christmas Cards
We know it's only October, but the children have been busy over the last few weeks preparing a Christmas card design that you can order online through Art Projects for Schools (APFS). If your child submitted a design, then they will be coming home with their design and a postcard with information on how you can order. Please note, each design has its own QR code on the back and when ordering you will not see a 'mock-up', but your order will look like the original. Ordering cards this way means that the PTFA will receive a donation. Please can you place your orders no later than 1st November and they will be dispatched to school by 15th November. Thank you for your continued support.
Life Skills Day - Thursday 26th October
Next week, we will be setting up a 'Coppice Town' and staff are running workshops and activities to teach skills such as gift wrapping, ordering in a cafe, hospitality skills etc.
Two of the sessions that we are running are bulb planting and gift wrapping (requiring gift wrap and boxes). Any donations you are able to make to support these two activities, please drop off by Wednesday 25th October.

PTFA Halloween Fancy Dress Day
On Friday 27th October we will be having a Halloween fancy dress day, as a PTFA non-uniform fundraiser.
Children can dress up in Halloween costumes for a £1 donation to the PTFA.
PE Uniform
Following feedback, we have added navy t-shirts to our school uniform for PE days. This is because we have had feedback that the white t-shirts are not lasting very long as they are easily stained.

Panto
We have put a Pantomime payment onto parent pay with a suggested donation of £10 per ticket. School is currently supplementing the cost of each ticket to help keep costs down. If you can, we’d appreciate it if you could make a payment of £10 per child. If you can afford to give more to help cover the cost of another child’s ticket, that would be greatly appreciated.
