Miss McNamara's Message

What a lovely week we’ve had in school celebrating World Book Day! It was fantastic to see the children (and staff!) getting cosy in their pyjamas and sharing their love of books together. I really enjoyed reading a personal favourite (and my original copy) 'Burglar Bill' to the children, in assembly.

A big thank you to those families who were able to join us for the Book Fair and Reading Café this week. It was great to see children enjoying books with their grown-ups and choosing something new to read. We were keen to give children the chance to spend their World Book Day tokens and make the most of the celebrations. If your child didn’t manage to pick up one of the World Book Day books this week, don’t worry - we still have a few available in school, so please just let us know and we’ll make sure they get one.

We were also delighted to welcome Imagined Things Bookshop into school this week. We have a great relationship with them and really appreciate their support. They’ve kindly said that if your child didn’t get the World Book Day book they were hoping for, you’re very welcome to pop into the shop and swap it.

Thank you, as always, for your support in helping us create a real love of reading in our school. 📖

Lost Property

Please be aware that all unnamed items of lost property has now been moved to the Community Hub, this includes an abundance of lost hats, gloves and scarves.

We kindly request that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child's full name, enabling staff to ensure that lost items are returned to their owners.

⭐Highlights for next week!⭐

  • Beech Class are excited to start Lost Inside the Toy Museum while beginning our Maths unit on length and height, exploring wildflowers in Science, and continuing our History learning about how toys have changed over time.

  • Chestnut Class will be starting to design their bridges ready for making them in the coming weeks!
  • HipHop Workshops are back next week!
  • Oak and Sycamore Class have a Hindu Workshop next week!

🌻 Spring Activity: Plant a Sunflower!

Try this quick, fun activity at home:

You’ll need: a pot, compost, sunflower seed, water.

How to do it:

  1. Fill the pot with compost.
  2. Push in a seed and cover it.
  3. Water lightly and place somewhere sunny.

Your seed should sprout in 1–2 weeks. Replant outside once it’s bigger and watch it grow tall!
