Miss McNamara's Message
It has been another exciting and positive week at Coppice Valley, with lots to celebrate across our school community.
Firstly, I am absolutely delighted to share that Mrs Brown will be joining our EYFS team in a two-day teaching role in September. Mrs Brown brings warmth, experience and enthusiasm, and I know she will be a fantastic addition to our Early Years provision. We are very pleased to have her joining the team at such an exciting time for our school, as we begin to get to know our new Reception cohort.
This week, I also had the pleasure of spending time visiting another primary school currently within the Ofsted window. I always value opportunities to get out into other schools, see great practice in action and reflect on our own journey at Coppice Valley. Every visit leaves me feeling proud of what we are achieving here and inspired with new ideas and celebrations to share with staff. Collaboration across schools is such an important part of continuous improvement and it's always refreshing to be reminded of the passion that exists across our sector.
There is also great excitement building around our nursery project, with furniture now beginning to arrive in school. Seeing everything start to come together makes the project feel very real, and we cannot wait to create a nurturing, inspiring and engaging environment for our youngest learners.
Finally, a very special message to our Year 6 pupils as they prepare for SATs next week: We are incredibly proud of every single one of you. These tests are an opportunity to celebrate all the hard work, determination and progress you have shown throughout Key Stage 2. You have approached your learning with maturity, resilience and positivity, and that is what matters most.
Remember to believe in yourselves, stay calm and simply try your very best. SATs do not define who you are - they are just one moment in your learning journey, but they are a chance to showcase everything you have learned. We know how hard you have worked, and we are all behind you.
Safety reminder – school site
We kindly ask all families to help us keep everyone safe on the school grounds.
Children have recently been seen running across the car park entrance and playing in the car park area without supervision. This can be very dangerous, particularly at busy times when staff are leaving and deliveries are arriving.
We are very pleased to offer our community garden as a safe space, where children are welcome to play before and after school when supervised by an adult.
Please help by ensuring that:
- Children do not play in or near the car park
- Children are supervised at all times
- The car park entrance is kept clear for vehicles
Thank you for your support in helping to keep our school community safe.
SATs Reminder
Assessments will be taking place in the school hall, and it is important that noise and disruption are kept to a minimum.
If your child arrives late or you need to visit the school during this time, please be mindful of the ongoing assessments and help us by entering the building quietly. Your cooperation will ensure that all pupils can concentrate and perform to the best of their ability.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Little Ferns Nursery - Tour Dates
We’re delighted to announce that Little Ferns Nursery is now complete, marking a significant milestone for our school. Over the past few weeks, the space has really come together and is already taking shape as a calm, welcoming environment where children can feel safe, happy and ready to explore.
At the heart of Little Ferns is a strong focus on communication and language development, recognising how vital these early skills are. Our curriculum is designed to immerse children in rich language, high-quality interactions and meaningful experiences to support their development.
The nursery will be led by an experienced Early Years teacher and a skilled Forest School practitioner, offering a thoughtful balance of nurturing indoor provision and purposeful outdoor learning. We aim to help every child grow in confidence, independence and curiosity.
We would be delighted to welcome you into the nursery to see the space for yourself, meet the team and find out more about what we offer.

💚 A Life-Changing Act in Our Community
We’re proud to share some inspiring news from one of our parents, who has been identified as a stem cell match for a young woman in need of a life-saving transplant.
This May, they will donate their stem cells, giving her a second chance at life. It’s an incredible act of kindness that will make a real and lasting difference to another family.
Stories like this remind us of the compassion within our community and the powerful impact one person can have.
🌿 Community Garden Update – Call for Quotes
We’re delighted to share that we have been awarded a grant to install a raised and accessible wooden planter in our community garden!
Thank you for supporting our garden project!
