Friday Update 13.02.2025 - Happy Half Term!

Posted 13th February 2026

Miss McNamara's Message

As we reach the end of a very full and rewarding half term, I would like to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support of our school community.

Today’s Values Assembly was a wonderful way to finish the term. It was a joy to celebrate the many ways our children have demonstrated our school values in action through kindness, perseverance, respect and responsibility; they are a credit to you and to our school.

⭐Today we celebrated:

  • Oak Class - Jacob & Darcy
  • Beech Class - Zofia and Phoebe
  • Ash Class - Autumn and Elsie
  • Sycamore Class - Freda and Edward
  • Apple Class - George and Matthew
  • Chestnut Class - Meredith and Harland
  • Willow Class - Charlie C and Lilian

I would also like to update you regarding our recent Ofsted inspection. We have not yet received the draft report and have been informed that it will now be after the half term before it is shared with us. As soon as we receive the draft and are able to do so, we will of course communicate further with you.

Today, we are also saying goodbye to Miss Washbrook, who is leaving us to take up a post at another Red Kite school, Oatlands Junior School. We are so grateful for the contribution she has made to our school and to the children in her care. I am sure you will join me in thanking her and in wishing her every success and happiness in her new role.

We hope that you all have a restful and enjoyable half term break - and that we return to school with some brighter, warmer weather ahead!

DfE Uniform Feedback

The Department for Education has issued guidance to help schools keep uniform costs low. This includes clear expectations that schools should limit the number of branded items they require and ensure value for money when buying clothing. While this particularly applies to schools with compulsory uniforms, it also guides how all schools approach clothing expectations.

As part of this review, Red Kite Learning Trust may carry out a tender process. The main aim of the tender is not to introduce new requirements, but to ensure that:
  • Clothing expectations remain affordable

  • Any future arrangements offer best value for families

  • Decisions are transparent and fair

Before any decisions are considered, we want to give parents and pupils the opportunity to share any views or concerns, particularly around cost, comfort or inclusion.

If you would like to provide feedback, please complete the form linked below 22nd February 2026. All comments will be sent through to our Trust and considered as part of the review.

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting families and our Eco‑School principles, the school will continue to offer pre‑loved uniform, which can be donated or taken from our Community Hub at any time. Re‑using uniform not only reduces costs for families but also helps minimise waste and supports our sustainability goals.

Hello Hip Hop – Whole‑School Identity Writing Project & Breaking Workshops!

We’re thrilled to share that we will be exploring a whole school writing topic next half term which will explore the inspiring theme of Identity – who we are, what shapes us, and how we express ourselves.

To launch and complement this learning we are welcoming the brilliant team from HelloHipHop into school.  Over a series of 3 weeks, children in years 1-6 will take part in dynamic, high‑energy workshops that dive into the rich world of Hip Hop culture.

Pupils will learn about Hip Hop’s roots in community, expression and positive identity. Each class will also enjoy sessions on Breaking (breakdance), where they’ll get moving, build confidence, and learn some authentic moves in a fun, supportive environment. These sessions are designed for every child - no dance experience needed!

The excitement and ideas sparked in these workshops will feed directly into our writing project, helping children to explore their own voices, experiences and identities in powerful and meaningful ways. We can’t wait to see the creativity that emerges!

Year 1 will be taking part in one workshop, Year 2 will complete two workshops, and Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will each take part in three workshops. Each workshop costs £1.15. Opportunities like this are funded from the school budget, so any contributions towards the cost would be very much appreciated, as they help us continue providing enriching experiences for our pupils. Donations can be made via School Shop.

End of Half Term Outstanding Balance Reminder

As we reach the end of this half term, we kindly ask all families to check their accounts on Arbor and Enrolmy and ensure that any outstanding balances are settled.

Clearing balances promptly helps us to keep school services running smoothly and ensures that clubs, meals, and activities can continue to be offered without interruption.

If you have any questions or need support accessing your account, please contact the school office and we will be happy to help.

Spring 2 - After School Clubs - Spaces Available
