Friday Update 13.9.24

Message from Miss McNamara
We have had a brilliant second week at Coppice. We kick-started the week with Year 5&6 wheelchair basket ball, had a guest speaker in assembly from Harrogate Fairtrade and our after-school clubs began.
A big thank you to everyone who has attended the start of year meetings, we hope you found them useful. For those who were unable to attend, the information is now on the class pages on our website.
Next week, our Year 6 pupils go on their residential and we really excited for all the wonderful activities. Our Year 6 team (Miss Ramsay, Mrs Scarisbrick and Miss Hudson) will be attending the trip and we can't wait to hear all about it!
Welcome to Oak Class!
A huge welcome to our new reception children, parents and carers. The children have settled in so well this week and I have loved seeing them exploring their new classroom and outdoor space. Their baby pictures and family pictures are up in the classroom and all our staff are enjoying playing 'match the baby picture with the child'!
Online Safety Checklist
Some of you have expressed interest in understanding more about how to keep your child safe online. This is something we are always researching and modifying our practice in, as we support our children to safely navigate the online world. This linked checklist is something you can use to help with this. The checklist covers actions you can take to help protect your child from online harms. Use the tabs at the top to see extra steps you can take based on your child’s age.
Data Check - Arbor
As this is a new school year, just a gentle reminder to ensure all details are correct in the Arbor Parent App, such as parent/carer contact details, address, dietary requirements and medical conditions. Thank you.
Forest School
Our sessions have begun and the children are learning so much and developing new skills.
As the weather turns, please make sure your child has suitable kit, including a plain long sleeved top and plain trousers with a coat and walking boots/wellies. If you need support with any of these items, just let the class teacher know or Miss Wright know and we are happy to support.
Swimming
Year 3 are swimming this term, they had their first session on Thursday afternoon (our new school slot), and they had a great time!
We want every child to be able to swim 25m by the end of KS2.
PTFA AGM
The PTFA AGM will be held at 6pm on Wednesday 9th October in our Forest classroom.
Due to stipulation of the constitution all 5 main roles have to be up for election each year.
If you are interested in running for a role please write a personal statement of up to 200 words and send to the office@cvps.rklt.co.uk. The roles are: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Social Media Administrator.
Please submit your interest by the Wednesday 2nd October.
Asda Cashpot
We’ve already raised over £150 in just one week through the Asda Cashpot initiative! Help us keep the momentum going by nominating us within your Asda Rewards App. There are 78 days left to continue growing our fund to spend on resources for your children.
