Miss McNamara's Message

We have welcomed a quieter week here at Coppice Valley, compared to last week! It has been our spring term Assessment Week, where our pupils have been both demonstrating and celebrating their learning progress. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and positive attitudes. Following these assessments, our teachers will be preparing the second report card of the year. These reports are designed to keep you informed about your child’s progress and their achievements. These report cards, which you now receive each term, are new this year following parent feedback on being kept informed with your child's progress. These report cards will be shared with you in the last week of term.

Today marked our first day of playing on the grass, which the children were thrilled about! We're fortunate to have such a great space, though the clay soil, gradient, and proximity to the allotments mean the field can get quite wet. We’re hopeful that our ongoing tree planting will improve drainage and help make the field more usable throughout the year.

Attendance

We would also like to highlight the importance of regular attendance. Currently, our school is averaging 96% attendance. While this is positive and above the DfE's 95% expectation, it still means that, on average, each child has missed around 8 days of school this year, equating to approximately 40 lessons. Every day in school counts towards building knowledge and confidence, so we greatly appreciate your support in ensuring your child attends as regularly as possible.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Safety around Oak Class

We kindly ask for your help in ensuring that children avoid playing around the bin area or with the gravel while waiting for school to start or after school. This will help us keep the environment safe and clean for everyone.

Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation.

Crossing Patrol

We are thrilled to have Danny as our crossing patrol; he is a fantastic addition to our school community. For everyone's safety, please ensure you cross at Danny's designated station. Crossing further up the road can be dangerous due to limited visibility for drivers and increased traffic during drop-off and pick-up times. By crossing with Danny, you help ensure a safer environment for all our students and families.

Top tip from the Coppice Eco Council

Consider opting for school dinners more often than packed lunches to help limit food waste and reduce plastic food packaging. If you do bring a packed lunch, make sure to use reusable food containers to minimize single-use plastics.
