Friday Update 15.11.24

Posted 15th November 2024

Miss McNamara's Message

We have had another fab and fun-filled week at Coppice, despite it only being open four days.

This week, we’ve been celebrating Anti-Bullying Week, with the theme of “Choose Respect.” Pupils enjoyed kicking off the week with Odd Socks Day, celebrating individuality and kindness. Y2-Y6 took part in a special film-making workshop around the “Choose Respect” theme, and we’re excited to share the results soon - our pupils’ creativity and commitment to respect have shone through!

We’re thrilled to welcome some new additions to our school -  a group of stick insects! A big thank you to one of our thoughtful parents for donating these creatures - they have already captivated the curiosity of our pupils and the stick-insects have enjoyed being read to as well!

Thank you to everyone who attended Parents’ Evening. We hope you enjoyed seeing your child’s books and discussing their progress with teachers. Your feedback is invaluable to us, so please take a moment to complete our survey here.

With the festive season fast approaching, our calendar is filling up quickly. Please be sure to check the dates at the end of the newsletter and add them to your own so you don’t miss any of the upcoming events.

Primary Science: Making it accessible & sustainable for all our learners

Today, for our INSET day, all of our class-facing staff are attending a Primary Red Kite Day which will bring together around 250 colleagues from across our 35  Alliance partner schools. The focus of the day will be primary science and how we can make it accessible and sustainable for all our learners. The themes of Primary Science, sustainability, climate awareness and outdoor learning will run through the keynote speeches and workshop sessions. We have been really looking forward to the day!

Verity Frearson Christmas Card Competition

The festive season is just around the corner and Verity Frearson are inviting local children to take part in their exciting Christmas challenge with the chance of winning £500 for our school!

'We're asking children to showcase their artistic skills and create a design for the Verity Frearson 2024 Christmas Card.'

You can either email your entry to hello@verityfrearson.co.uk with your NAME, AGE, SCHOOL & CONTACT DETAILS or drop your design into our office at Tudor House, 26 Albert Street, Harrogate, HG1 1JT.

Entries close on Friday 29th November at midday.

The Roadwise website has additional information concerning all road users.

There is a free 'Be Bright, Be Seen' event on 25 November, 3.30pm to 6.30pm at Harrogate Fire Station, where you can receive free reflective accessories.
