Miss McNamara's Message

Ofsted Report Update

We hope you have now had the opportunity to read our recently published Ofsted report. We are incredibly proud of what it says about our school and the community we have built together. It reflects the hard work, care and commitment shown every day by our staff, as well as the fantastic attitudes, behaviour and enthusiasm of our pupils.

You may have noticed that the report took a while to be published. This is due to the introduction of a new inspection framework and a more rigorous moderation process. Our inspection was also moderated by a senior HMI – one of only a small number nationally – which meant the process was particularly thorough.

Thank you!

We would like to say a huge thank you to our PTFA for organising an Easter egg for every child before the holidays. This was greatly appreciated by our pupils and was a lovely way to send them into the Easter break.

Welcome

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Wilson, who joined us this week as a Teaching Assistant. I’m sure you will join us in making her feel very welcome as she settles into the Coppice team.

Looking Ahead to Summer

The summer term is always one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year. Our Year 6 pupils are preparing for their SATs, and we wish them every success as they approach this important milestone.

There are lots of events planned over the coming weeks, so please do make sure you have these in your calendars.

As the weather begins to improve and pupils are more active outdoors, please can we ask that water bottles are taken home regularly (ideally at weekends) to be washed and returned ready for the week ahead.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support – we are looking forward to a busy and successful term ahead.

🌈 PTFA Colour Run – Friday 6 June 🌈

Our much‑loved PTFA Colour Run is back on Friday 6 June, and we can’t wait to fill the school grounds with colour, laughter, and energy once again!

Last year was absolutely incredible, with 432 people taking part – an amazing achievement and a true celebration of our school community. Can we make it even bigger this year?

The Colour Run is a fun, inclusive event for all children and a fantastic way to support the work of the PTFA, helping to raise funds for experiences and resources that benefit everyone.

Great North Run

One of our community members, Nicki, has signed up for the Great North Run 2026 and is taking on a huge personal challenge to raise money for the charity AMEND. Please see a message from her below:

Hi All, I'm Nicki and I've had a crazy moment and agreed to run in the Great North Run 2026. I can currently just about run to the local shop on a good day so need all the help I can get!

I am trying to raise as much money as possible for a charity called AMEND. AMEND are a charity that supports people living with rare endocrine tumours and genetic mutations that can change a family's life in an instant.

I lost my husband Rob unexpectedly in 2019 at the age of 34 to one of these rare tumours.

We later found this is a genetic condition and have since discovered that both my girls have this rare gene.

I've decided to take on this challenge to raise funds for a charity that have supported us through some very challenging times.

If anyone is able to support me, whether it's to the help the charity that can, has and will do amazing things to help my family. Or just offer words of encouragement, any help is greatly appreciated.

New Parent Council – Get Involved

We are excited to be launching a new Parent Council at school. The council will meet once each term and will provide families with a valuable opportunity to share their views, ideas, and suggestions.

The Parent Council will explore ways to:

  • Support children and families
  • Strengthen communication
  • Build and celebrate our school community

We are keen to hear from parents and carers who would like to be involved and help shape the future of our school.

👉 Interested in taking part?
Please email Wrights@cvps.rklt.co.uk to register your interest or to find out more.

We look forward to working together to make our school community even stronger.

Following a great idea from a school, we are excited to announce that along with your monthly parent newsletter, we will now be sharing a short video each month aimed at parents/carers that you can share on social media or on your school website.

Our April video has the theme Online Gaming.
