What a year! This year, my second at Coppice Valley, has been amazing, (although I am sure that the best is still to come!).
This year, we’ve continued building a school that truly puts children first. One of our proudest achievements this academic year has been the successful launch of Forest School across the whole school – from Reception to Year 6. This has transformed our outdoor learning, offering every pupil a chance to build resilience, curiosity and a deep connection to nature. We must say a huge thank you to Mrs Brooke, who is instrumental in this offer at school. We have significantly developed our outdoor area, with planting over 800 new tress, installation of our Forest School canopy, a mud kitchen and composting toilets. Our work with this continues and we are now partnered with Balfour Beaty and NortherPowergrid to continue this great work, creating a nature trail on our grounds. Upcoming outdoor development includes the installation of an outdoor music garden (September) and the installation of an extended wireless access point, allowing us to have wildlife cams which we can stream footage from in school.
In the classroom, our teaching and learning have gone from strength to strength. The introduction of our new English curriculum has already begun to show a positive impact, with pupils becoming more confident writers and readers. And speaking of reading, our continued investment from 2023-24 – including high-quality texts, revamped libraries, class reading corners and Little Wandle phonics – has paid off. The results are outstanding:
? Phonics Screening Check: Our children smashed it!
✨ Multiplication Check: Our Year 4s showed real fluency and confidence.
? KS2 SATs: Incredible outcomes – a real testament to the hard work of staff and pupils alike.
It’s not just our curriculum and outcomes that have flourished. Since August 2024, We’ve secured £278,000 in grant funding to bring our big ideas to life – including our Forest School, sustainability projects, and securing funding to open a school-based nursery from September 2026. This is a huge step for our community and reflects the ambition we have for Coppice Valley’s future.
Looking ahead, the summer holidays & September will see exciting developments continue, including a new outdoor provision area for Year 1 and improvements to our wraparound care offer.
None of this would be possible without the people that make Coppice Valley so special. To our staff – many of whom are new to the team – thank you. Your passion, dedication, and belief in every pupil is extraordinary. I really believe we are building something special here at Coppice Valley.
To our parents and carers, thank you for your ongoing support, encouragement, and trust. Your engagement and positivity mean the world to us. And to our governing body, thank you for your time, challenge, and increasing involvement in the life of the school – it’s making a real difference.
Coppice Valley continues to grow as a community, not just as a school. This year’s achievements are the result of vision, collaboration and belief – in each other, in our pupils, and in what we can achieve together.
Wishing you all a fantastic (and restful) summer break. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in September to begin another exciting chapter.
We will see you on 3rd September 2025!
Huge Congratulations to our winners!

We’re pleased to let you know that we’ve recently appointed a new site supervisor. Mr Falconar popped in today to say a brief hello to some of our classes.
Mr Falconar brings a great mix of experience and enthusiasm to the role. He has previously helped set up and build Forest Schools, and outside of school he plays in four active bands (including a Green Day tribute band!), and even has a passion for spreadsheets and organisation!
Mr Falconar will be starting during the school holidays to get to know the site before the children return in September. He’s really looking forward to becoming part of the Coppice community and getting involved in school life - even running the odd after school club possibly!
We’re sure you’ll join us in giving him a warm welcome in the new term.
Clubs will start w/c 8 September and end w/e 24 October
By signing up for the Young Voices Club this half term, your child will be attending sessions through to the concert in February 2026.
Clubs will run from Monday to Thursday, from the week commencing 8 September to the week ending 24 October 2025.
✨ Highlights include:
? Bookings open on Arbor at 6pm on Friday 18 July.
Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Spooky fun at the Halloween Disco and sweet celebrations at the Valentine’s Disco
Looking ahead to next year, we’re excited to support the Colour Run, supporting the brand-new Music Garden, and plenty more exciting projects.
From all of us at the PTFA – a huge thank you to every family, friend and volunteer who’s helped make this year such a success. It really is a team effort, and we couldn’t do it without you.
Have a fantastic summer break – and here’s to another amazing year ahead!
As we head into the summer holidays, we’d love to see how our Coppice children are staying active! Whether it’s playing cricket, riding a bike, dancing, walking, or any other fun activity, please send us your photos.
We’ll be creating a photo collage in September to showcase all the brilliant ways our pupils keep moving and having fun over the break.
? Please email your photos to office@cvps.rklt.co.uk with your child’s name and class.
? Don’t forget! There are lots of exciting and free FEAST activities available across North Yorkshire this summer. Visit https://www.northyorkshiretogether.co.uk/feast to find out more and book your place.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and active summer!
