We have had another wonderful week at Coppice Valley!
Our Year 6 children have been away on their residential and have had a fantastic time. Residential experiences are a wonderful opportunity for pupils to develop their confidence, independence and resilience. They learn to work as a team, try new things and create special memories with their friends.
At Coppice, we are committed to providing residential opportunities throughout the children’s time with us. In Key Stage 1, children have the opportunity to enjoy a sleepover at school. Last year, we also hosted our first in-house Bushcraft residential - a unique experience offered here at Coppice.
The Year 6 residential gives our oldest pupils the chance to stay in a beautiful setting and take part in adventurous activities, including activities on the water. These are experiences that not every child would ordinarily have the opportunity to access, and we are proud to make them available to our pupils.
You can see photographs from the residential on our social media pages. You may have noticed that we are adopting a new style for some of our photographs to help protect images of our children from being copied or misused online. We hope you will still enjoy seeing the wide range of exciting activities and experiences taking place across school.
Basecamp is now well and truly underway and is already being used and enjoyed by children across the school. We are also delighted to celebrate another successful week at Little Ferns, our new pre-school. It has been lovely to see our youngest children continuing to settle in so happily.
Finally, some families may recently have received an email about eligibility for free school meals. If you think your child may be eligible, please contact Mrs Tunney in the school office, who will be happy to support you with the application. Eligible children receive their school meals free of charge, and the school also receives additional Pupil Premium funding to support their education. Families may also receive discounts on educational visits, trips and other school activities, so we would strongly encourage you to check your eligibility.
We're delighted to share that our school now has access to an on-site washing machine through Suds in Schools, an initiative created by UK cleaning brand SMOL.
This is a practical way to support those of us who may benefit from extra laundry access from time to time. The machine use and detergent is free and easy to use and available to any family in our school community.
If you'd like more information or have any questions please email Wrights@cvps.rklt.co.uk
We have lots of pre-loved school uniform available in our Community Hub, so please pop in and have a look! We are happy to accept donations of school uniform, school shoes, coats and children’s books. At the moment, we’re unable to accept any toy donations, thank you for understanding.
A gentle reminder that children using or playing inside the Hub should be supervised by an adult at all times. Thank you for helping us keep this shared space safe and welcoming for everyone.
Just a quick reminder about our recent message regarding the changes to Free School Meals (FSM).
If your household is receiving Universal Credit, please remember to check whether your child may now be eligible. The rules have changed, and more families may qualify.
FEAST
Families who register for benefit-related Free School Meals, which is now known as Targeted Free School Meals, are eligible for FEAST (Food, Entertainment, Arts and Sports Together) holiday activities and vouchers during the school holidays if they are aged between 5-16 (Reception to Year 11). This only includes Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays.
FEAST provides children and young people with access to a wide range of fully funded holiday clubs, healthy meals, sports, creative activities and enriching experiences, helping them to stay active, social and engaged outside of term time.
If you haven’t already done so, please take a few minutes to reapply. The application is quick, simple and confidential.

💚 Support for your family
🏫 Our school receives additional funding for every eligible child, helping us provide further support and opportunities for all pupils.
⭐ Please remember – you need to apply for EACH child, not just one.
If you have more than one child at Coppice Valley, please complete an application for every child from Reception to Year 6.
👉 Apply online here:
https://apply.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/pp-rklt
If you would like some help completing the application, please contact me. I’m very happy to arrange a time for us to go through the application together in school and support you with the process. 😊
If you have already reapplied, thank you – there is nothing further you need to do.
Thank you for your support. 💙💚
🍁🌧️ Beech Class will be exploring autumn weather, taking their learning outside to observe and record signs of the season. 🥾🔍 🌳 In Geography, we’ll continue learning about parks and what we can find there, as we begin preparing for our upcoming fieldwork adventure. 🗺️📋👀

🌰 Enjoy an autumn scavenger hunt and see how many conkers your family can spot. 🍂🌰
