Miss McNamara's Message
What a fantastic week of learning we’ve had! Our pupils have been full of energy and enthusiasm, especially in our dance taster sessions, where they’ve been showcasing their rhythm and creativity. If you haven’t already, take a sneaky peek at our Harrogate Dance Competition performance on our social media – we’re so proud of their hard work!
We’ve also been making the most of the great outdoors, taking our maths and science lessons outside to bring learning to life. Whether it’s measuring angles in the playground or exploring the natural world in Forest School, our pupils are thriving in these hands-on experiences.
A quick reminder to make sure you’ve used your FEAST vouchers if you’re eligible – these are a great way to support families over the holidays.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful weekend!

Welcome Mrs. Rowntree!
We are delighted to introduce Mrs. Rowntree, who joins our school as an Advanced Teaching Assistant. Mrs. Rowntree brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our team, and we are excited to see the positive impact she will have on our school community. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome!
Farewell Mrs. Jessop
We are sad to be saying goodbye to Mrs. Jessop, who has been an invaluable teaching assistant at our school. Her dedication, hard work, and commitment to Coppice have benefitted so many of our pupils. We are grateful for everything she has done for the school and wish her all the best in her future role with a publishing company. Mrs. Jessop's last day will be next Friday. Thank you, Mrs. Jessop, for your incredible contributions.
Welcome Miss Washbrook!
We are delighted to share that Miss Washbrook, who has almost completed 2 teaching placements at Coppice Valley, was appointed yesterday as the class teacher for our Year 1 class. Miss Washbrook will take the Year 1 class through into Year 2 next year. We are so pleased to welcome her on board.
KS1 Sleepover - Last chance to sign up!
The final deadline to sign up for our exciting sleepover is approaching. If your child would like to attend, please complete the Microsoft Form and pay via the School Shop on Arbor.
Please make sure that you have completed both the form and paid on Arbor by Friday 21st March 2025 so I can put a food order together ready for the week after.
There are a few people who have completed either just the permission form or paid via Arbor. Please make sure that both are completed.
If you have already paid and completed the online form, you don't need to do this again.

Please collect children's hearts over the next week so we can prepare the raised beds for planting. Please keep children from standing on and digging in the raised beds - we will be starting to plant in the next few weeks.
Highlights for next week!
- Sycamore - In science, the children will be creating special 'rock puddings', that will be edible to help the children understand the earths core as we continue our unit on rocks and soils. 🌍🌱They will also be starting a new writing project which at the moment is TOP SECRET! 🤫
- Ash are going to start writing a weather report, as well as starting a new topic of mass and capacity in maths. In science, we are taking our learning outdoors to look at how we can group different animals. 🦌🦔🦋🐍
- Apple Class will be visiting Oak Class to share stories with them 📚🌟🌈, as well as going outdoors to take part in some orienteering! 🧭 This is all part of our Coppice 50.

Top tip from the Coppice Eco Council
Pencil shavings are gathered and used as kindling in our Forest School, as a source of carbon in our composting and as moisture retention in our soil. All showing pupils how waste can be repurposed in a sustainable way.
We’ve started collecting empty pens and glue sticks, as they make up a significant portion of school waste. This initiative helps reduce our environmental footprint.
