Miss McNamara's Message
This week, I have to give a massive thank you to our staff team. We have had very high levels of staff illness, which have left us incredibly stretched. At 6am on Wednesday, we were genuinely discussing whether we could keep the school open. Yet our staff pulled together brilliantly – supporting one another, covering for each other, tag-teaming and checking in – to ensure we continued to support all of our pupils and deliver high-quality learning with skeleton staffing. I am extremely proud to be part of such a team who, despite the challenges, keep smiling.
As a result of the staffing situation, we did have to postpone one of our community events this week: our community crochet session. Please look out for a revised date. Our Family Breakfast, however, went ahead on Tuesday morning. A huge thank you to Mrs Batty, who organises this and always puts on a great spread. It is lovely to see so many families breakfasting together (or enjoying a second or third breakfast!).
Next week, we are looking forward to the EYFS area being completed. The building work has been slightly delayed due to wet weather and temperatures too cold for bricklaying. You will also see the installation of a second canopy outside Forest. This canopy will also enable a new wireless access point to be installed, which will reach into our nature area and allow us to set up wildlife cameras that we can view from inside the school.
A final plea from me - please make sure you name your child's coat, hat, scarf and gloves. 208 pupils = 416 gloves! After a week or so, unnamed lost property will make its way to the Community Hub if we cannot find an owner.

Outdoor Activity Tip - Frost Detective
Grab a magnifying glass and go on a frosty adventure! Look closely at the sparkly patterns on leaves, grass, and windows. What shapes can you see? Can you guess how frost makes those beautiful designs?

Take 5 Breathing
Take 5 Breathing is a simple, calming strategy that helps children feel grounded, focused, and ready to learn. Pupils are taught how to slowly trace each finger on one hand while matching their breath — breathing in as they slide up a finger and breathing out as they slide down.
This quick technique is used regularly in class to help children manage big feelings, calm their bodies, and bring their attention back to the present moment. It’s a practical tool they can use anytime they need a reset.
