Friday Update 21.6.24
Posted 20th June 2024
A Message From Miss McNamara
The sun has shone during another action-packed week at Coppice. Yesterday, Year 1 went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park as part of their learning about sculpture and Barbara Hepworth. They returned to school buzzing with excitement and they even found a secret sculpture!
Year 6 have started their transition programmes and we have had visitors from a few of the secondary schools to share information with the children about their new school. If you have a child in Year 6, please ensure you are receiving communication from their secondary school about the transition programme and any upcoming dates. Simultaneously, our own transition programme has begun and next week we start to welcome our new Reception cohort to events at school.
The pollen count and temperature are high next week so please send your child to school having taken any necessary hay fever medications, wearing a hat and sun cream. Children can re-apply their own sun cream during the day, but bottles should be named.
Sports Day
On Thursday, it is our Sports Day and we are keeping our fingers crossed for warm (but not too hot) weather. Your child will need their water bottle. Please come to school via the car park entrance and use the ramp up on to the playground. We have some picnic benches but you can also bring along your own chair and picnic blanket.
The PTFA will have a self-serve refreshment station, with a cash donations bucket.
The race timings are below:
9:15am: Years 5 & 6
10:15am: Years 3 & 4
11:15am: KS2 Parents' Race
1:30pm: Reception & Years 1& 2
3pm: KS1 Parents' Race
Community News
Friday Night Curry Club
As a promotion for the pantry in our Community Hub, next Friday we will have a Curry Club bag with the ingredients for you to make a chickpea curry for your family.
The ingredients are long-lasting and part of our work to connect with our community. This is funded by grant money.
Please visit the Community Hub Friday afternoon to grab a bag.
PTFA Dress-Down
On Friday 5th July, children are invited to dress down in exchange for chocolate (KS1) or a bottle (KS2). This is to support our summer fair, which is on Saturday 13th July.
Bottles should be unopened, but can be anything (shampoo, shower gel etc.). If you do donate alcohol, please make sure it is given to staff by an adult and is under your supervision on the way to the school.
Thank you for your continued support.
