Happy Half Term! 🎃🍂
What a fantastic first half term we've had at Coppice! It's hard to believe we're already seven weeks into the school year, and there has been so much to celebrate. From welcoming new faces and settling into new routines to all the wonderful learning, trips and experiences, it's been a busy one! I'm incredibly proud of the children and how brilliantly they've started the year.
Yesterday, we rounded off the half term with our Values Assembly, celebrating children who have made a particularly fantastic start to the year and really impressed their teachers by demonstrating our Coppice values of being Brave, Kind and Curious. It was lovely to recognise their achievements and hear all the wonderful things their teachers had to say about them. We also celebrated our top three Class Dojo winners – congratulations! Your special treat will be waiting for you after half term! A big well done to the children who are now in Young Leader groups, we can't wait to see the difference you make.
A huge thank you to everyone who made such an effort with today's costumes. The children looked absolutely fantastic, and it was lovely to see so much creativity (and a few slightly terrifying faces!) around school. We'll share an update from our brilliant PTFA soon about how much we've raised.
Speaking of the PTFA, thank you to everyone who came along to Monday's AGM. There was plenty of pizza, lots of enthusiasm and some exciting plans made for the year ahead. We're incredibly lucky to have such a supportive school community, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together this year.
As we head into the holiday, a few little reminders! The clocks go back this Sunday, so there's an extra hour in bed to look forward to (although I'm sure many of our younger children won't have received that memo!). With Halloween and Bonfire Night just around the corner, please take care when out trick-or-treating, around fireworks and sparklers, and with candles or other naked flames.
Finally, I hope all our children, families and staff enjoy a really lovely half term. Whether you're heading away, enjoying some autumn adventures or simply having a well-earned rest, I hope you have a wonderful week.
We're also wishing Miss Morrow the very best of luck as she takes to the stage at Harrogate Theatre this week and weekend, playing Scaramouche in We Will Rock You! We know she'll be absolutely brilliant (we have already heard she is and I can't wait to see her Saturday afternoon) – break a leg, Miss Morrow! 🎸🎭
A reminder that Monday 2nd November is an INSET day, so we'll look forward to welcoming all the children back on Tuesday 3rd November.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Have a brilliant half term, everyone!
After the half-term break, we will be moving to our new school dinner menu from Hutchison Catering, which will run through until the Easter holidays 2027.
The new menu is available to view on our website, and meal choices will also be available to select through SchoolGrid. We encourage parents and carers to review the options with their child and make meal selections in advance where possible.
If your child has any dietary requirements or allergies, please ensure these are up to date on SchoolGrid so that appropriate meal options can be provided.
We hope the children enjoy the new menu and the variety of meals on offer! ?️
We may be able to help families apply for a brand-new bed and mattress for children who do not currently have a suitable bed of their own.

If you think your family could benefit from this support, please contact Wrights@cvps.rklt.co.uk in confidence. We can discuss your circumstances and help you access the appropriate support.
All enquiries will be treated sensitively and confidentially. ❤️
We would like to thank the vast majority of our parents, carers and visitors who are always mindful and considerate when using our school car park.
As a reminder, our disabled parking bay is provided for those who hold a valid Blue Badge and need the space due to a disability or access requirement. We have pupils and family members within our school community who genuinely rely on this space to access school safely and comfortably.
Unfortunately, there have been a few occasions at drop-off and collection times when families who need the bay have been unable to use it because it was occupied by someone without an access need.
We would be very grateful if everyone could help us ensure this space remains available for those who depend on it. Your kindness, understanding and consideration make a real difference and help us create an inclusive and supportive environment for all members of our school community.
Thank you for your continued support. 💙
We also have a small selection of brand-new coats available through school. If you would like more information or support, please contact Miss Wright in on wrights@cvps.rklt.co.uk. We are always happy to help. ❄️
Tuesday, 27 October, called Behind “I’m Fine”.
Someone can be working, laughing and getting on with life while hiding what they’re going through. Drawing on my own lived experience, I’ll explore what outward appearances can hide, why people stay quiet, and what helps someone feel safe enough to speak. It’s relevant to anyone concerned about someone at home or at work.
I would like to wish all families and School staff a happy, and safe October half term holiday and I will see you all on Tuesday November 3rd when school re-opens. 😃

Roast the seeds
Make pumpkin soup
Create pumpkin prints
Make a pumpkin potion – mix pumpkin flesh, water and fallen leaves in an old bowl for messy play
Never eat pumpkins that have been painted, treated with chemicals, contaminated by candles or left outside to rot.
