What a week of sunshine and heat!
Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our staff, who have gone above and beyond this week to keep children cool, comfortable and ready to learn. From opening windows early in the morning, adapting lessons and routines, creating cooler learning spaces and making sure children had plenty of opportunities to drink water, the team has worked incredibly hard to help everyone manage the unusually high temperatures.
Thank you also to our parents and carers. The named water bottles, hats and pre-arrival sun cream application have all made a real difference and helped us keep children safe and protected throughout the week. Your support really does make these hot days much easier to manage.
It has also been lovely to welcome the English Hub into school for their final visit. They have supported us over a number of years, since I joined the school in September 2023. We have significantly developed our reading and phonics provision and it was great to be able to share the consistently strong progress our children have made as a result of this work. We are incredibly proud of the strong culture of reading that exists across our school.
After school today we are welcoming our new reception cohort to collect their book bag, teddy bear and water bottle - a moment I'm sure many of you will remember!
As we move towards the final few weeks of the school year, there is still plenty to look forward to. Thank you for your continued support and understanding, particularly during this very warm spell of weather.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and find a way to keep cool!
To help ensure the safety of all pupils and families, we kindly remind parents and carers that the school car park should not be used at drop-off and pick-up times.
The car park is reserved for staff and blue badge holders only, with a designated disabled parking bay available for those who need it.
If you are parking on nearby roads, please be considerate of our neighbours and the environment by switching off your engine while waiting – helping us reduce unnecessary idling and support our eco-friendly efforts.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep our school community safe and respectful for everyone.

As we approach the end of the academic year, we kindly ask all families to check their accounts to ensure any outstanding balances are cleared. Please take a moment to log in and review:
Clearing balances before the end of term helps us ensure a smooth transition into the new academic year and allows us to finalise our accounts. If you have any queries or need support accessing your accounts, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, we’re happy to help.
Most bookings for FEAST are made on HolidayActivities, a website where you can see all the activities on offer, book your place, provide more information about your requirements, and manage/cancel bookings as required.
To log into HolidayActivities, go to app.holidayactivities.com and either log in (using the email or social account you’ve used before) or sign up.
You will then be asked for your 16-digit voucher number, which will have been provided to you by email or text from HolidayActivities (or, in some limited circumstances, another way by your school or North Yorkshire Together etc.)
If you follow the link in the email or text you received for this holiday period’s voucher, you will not need to manually input your voucher number.

Reusable freezer lolly tubes are perfect in a heatwave - just fill them with tap water or diluted fruit juice and pop them in the freezer! 🍧
They’re a fun, cooling treat for kids and cut down on single-use plastic from shop-bought ice lollies, saving both waste and money.
