Miss McNamara's Message

624562550_1673332950634215_7275972803223255152_nIt has been another fantastic week at school, and I would like to start by celebrating the brilliant achievement of our girls’ football team. They represented the school superbly at their tournament yesterday, showing teamwork, resilience and determination. Coming second overall was a great achievement and we are incredibly proud of them.

A special mention must also go to Miss Baxter, whose determination to make sure the team could take part made all the difference. A big thank you to parents who took their children to and from the event too - without you it is not possible.

I would also like to share a gentle reminder about our morning routines. We really value the positive relationships we have with parents and carers and always appreciate your support. To ensure a calm and timely start to the school day, we do need to keep morning door conversations brief.

Classroom doors and the school's gates need to close at 8:55am to allow staff time to register classes and ensure the school are in the hall for for assembly by 9:05am. Longer conversations at the doors can unintentionally delay the start of learning for pupils. If you do need a longer conversation, please arrange this, so it can be given the time and attention it deserves.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and understanding as we balance communication and school routines.

Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs)

This week, Mrs Kew has begun preparing new Individual Health Care Plans for all pupils who require one, including those with asthma, allergies, or any other medical needs.

New forms are being sent home and must be completed in full by parents/carers to ensure we have the most accurate and up-to-date information for each child.

Please complete and return the forms to the school office as soon as possible.

Thank you for helping us keep all pupils safe and well.

Y1/2 Sleepover

Once again, we are pleased to announce that we will be running our KS1 sleepover for our Year 1 and 2 children. The children will stay at school on Friday 13th March, sleeping over in the school building!

The cost of the sleepover will be £6 per child - to cover the cost of dinner and breakfast - and is payable via Arbor on the online school shop.

Once you have paid for the sleepover, please fill out the Microsoft Form attached to give permission and select food choices.

Y6 SATs Information Evening

This meeting will take place on Tuesday 10th February, and you may enter directly through the classroom door. During the session, we will discuss the important SATs dates, outline the different types of papers that will be administered, and provide guidance on how you can support your child’s learning at home.

If you are unable to attend, please do not worry. We will provide the presentation slides on the Willow Class page for your reference.

⭐Highlights for next week!⭐

  • Beech Class are heading outdoors for hands-on learning as part of our plants topic. The children will be exploring how plants grow and what they need to thrive 🌱☀️💧 We’ll be using atlases to find the United Kingdom on a world map and learning more about where we live in the world 🗺️. And in computing, we will be programming Bee-Bots, learning about directions and simple coding in a fun, hands-on way ⬆️⬇️➡️⬅️
  • Next week Ash class are continuing their exploration of materials in science. Designing their final clay piece in art and continuing developing balance on apparatus.

  • As a school, we’re really looking forward to meeting our new CEO next week. We can’t wait to showcase our wonderful school and the fantastic learning that takes place here every day.

Spring 1 Menu - Week 5

❄️ Track and Trail

Track and Trail Walks encourage children to become nature detectives as they explore the outdoors. Winter ground - whether frosty, muddy, or lightly dusted with snow - makes it much easier to spot and identify footprints left by local wildlife.

Guess which creatures have passed by. Look out for:

  • Bird prints with their tiny three‑pronged toes
  • Dog paw prints, often found along popular paths
  • Fox tracks, slimmer and more oval in shape
  • Squirrel footprints, usually appearing near trees

It’s a simple, low‑cost activity that builds curiosity, observation skills, and a love of the natural world. So wrap up warm, head outside, and see which winter visitors have been exploring before you!
