We have had to close the school today due to the heavy snow and dangerous driving conditions. Closing the school is always a very difficult decision to make and I am sorry for any inconvenience it has caused but the health and safety of all our Coppice Valley community always has to come first.
It is strange to be thinking about the sun on a snowy day, however I am very pleased to announce that the school will be fitted with solar panels in the coming months. This is part of the Red Kite Trust’s sustainability strategy. The flat roof at Coppice Valley will hold enough panels to generate power shared with our other Trust schools. As a Green Flag Eco School, we’re delighted with this addition to our school.
We have secured some charitable grants towards getting an outdoor gym on the playground and new equipment for Oak class’s outdoor area. We still need about £7,000 more. Our PTA is working hard to raise funds so please do support their Easter raffle and upcoming events, if you can, to get us nearer to our target.
I would love to be able to get this project done this year, as a 50th anniversary gift for the children so if you know of any businesses that might be tempted into donating to this worthy cause, please do let me know.
Family BreakfastOur next Free Family Breakfast, as part of our Year of Giving Back, is on Tuesday 18th April from 8am until 8.45am. Please remember that we cannot take responsibility for unattended children so please do accompany them.
And finally, our own artist in residence, Ellis Cutting has won another competition with his stunning art work. A few weeks ago, Ellis won an RHS sponsored competition to design a sign for the bee garden and this week he won the Bilton Woodfield library bookmark competition. Very well done Ellis! You can see Ellis’s design and the top 10 chosen bookmarks in the competition at the Bilton Woodfield library. For the next year, Ellis’s book mark will be given out to all library users.

Upcoming Event RemindersSee you next week!
Kind regards,
