Welcome back, I hope you had a good half-term holiday. The final summer term is always a very special time as we look forward to lots of celebrations – Sports’ Day, Family Picnic Day, Leavers’ Assembly and the Summer Fair.
As the weather warms up, please remember to send children with sunhats, water bottles and long-lasting sun cream applied.
Changes to the PTA
At this year’s AGM (14th July) we will be holding a vote to change the PTA to a PTFA. (Parent-Teacher-Friend Association) which is an organisation of parents, staff and associated people such as grandparents etc. This change means that the PTA will be open to a wider group of volunteers and interested parties who want to help the school raise funds. The current PTA have all agreed that this would be in the best interests of the school. If you would like to vote on this matter please come to the AGM on 14th July. If you are interested in running for a PTA position (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer), please email email@example.com
New Playground Equipment
Over half term, the new equipment was installed in the Reception/Year 1 outdoor space and on the main playground. There’s a few final tweaks to do but it looks amazing. We’re still fundraising to cover the total costs (RKLT have forwarded us the total, to be repaid) and need to raise a further £4K. We’re hoping the Summer Fair will be a roaring success and cover the final amount.
Class Photos and Year 6 Leavers’ Photo
On 21st June, School House Photography will be on site to take class photos and a Year 6 leavers’ photo. Parents will be able to access photos via the School House Photography gallery in the usual way. More details will come about how to do this and if you want a private gallery.
Summer Fair Jarbola Shout-Out!
Please can you fill a jar (with a lid) with little treats for the Jarbola stall? You can do more than 1 if you would like to! You can include sweets, stationary, small toys, party favours etc. Believe it or not, Pinterest has a jarbola board if you want to get really competitive about it. Please bring in your filled, lidded jars anytime between 21st-28th June. Hand them to class teachers who will gather them up in school for the PTA.
Do you know that Road Traffic Accidents are the number one cause of death for children in the UK? In the summer months, our children are playing outside more with the light nights. Please talk to your children about keeping safe on the roads, especially if they walk to and from school on their own. We will be talking about road safety in assembly soon too.
Attendance and Punctuality
It is important that children arrive on time for school each and every day. The following graphic shows how just a few minutes late each day build up into a significant loss of learning. If your child is coming to school on their own in a morning, please make sure they are leaving the house in plenty of time to be in school by 8.55 am.
