New Year Newsletter

Message from Miss McNamara
Happy New Year! We hope you enjoyed the break and it has been lovely to have all the children back in school, as well as welcoming our new Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Fineran.
On Monday, we dedicated our staff training day to focus on the Quality of Education section within our school development plan. Our development plan is what drives our school forward and this particular aspect plays a pivotal role in determining the lessons your children receive. I would like to share with you the training we delivered:
- Phonics training, for our continued implementation of Little Wandle.
- Input from subject leaders on our updated history and geography curriculum and the disciplinary concepts within these two subjects.
- Fairtrade focus, through a workshop from Harrogate Fairtrade.
This week, the children have settled back into the routine of school well (although there were a few yawns in assembly this morning!). Richard Sheriff (RKLT CEO) visited school on Tuesday. He was blown away by the behaviour and attitudes of the children as we toured the classes and was highly impressed with the work we do, here at Coppice.
Today, a representative from the English Hub joined us to collaborate with our EYFS and Key Stage One team, focusing on early reading. Our partnership with the Hub, which began in September, has been really useful and they too have been impressed with the lessons at Coppice.
We are looking forward to the term ahead, with lots of exciting new developments.
School Uniform
Please make sure your child is wearing the correct school unform and that they are not wearing hoodies or jewellery.
If you require any support with this, school shoes or a warm school coat, please contact Mrs Wright: wrights@cvps.rklt.co.uk.

Navigating January's Challenges
We know January is a tough month, both for mental health and finances. We are here to support all our families, so please reach out if you need us. Speak with a member of staff if you would like help with anything, including food. We also have a new e-mail address: support@cvps.rklt.co.uk for you to use, if you are ever unsure of who to contact. We are committed to the success and happiness of our children and families.
Christmas Jumpers
We promise this will be the last mention of Christmas until next academic year! We would love for you to send in any Christmas jumpers that no longer fit, so we can have a Christmas jumper give-away in November. This supports us with our goal to reduce landfill whilst also supporting our community.
Governor Vacancies
There are a number of vacancies across the schools within the Trust. Please do get in touch with the school office if this is something you are interested in.
Members of our Local Governing Bodies have a crucial part to play in making our schools happy, safe and successful places for every child. Our Governors get to know the children and staff at the school and provide appropriate, informed challenge and support for the leaders. The Trustees at Red Kite take responsibility for the very formal legal and financial aspects of running our schools, allowing the local governing body to focus on the children, culture, curriculum and community- the heart of any school. You do not need to be an expert on education, finance or the law you just need to have a passion for schools and serving the young people and families in our communities. Come and help us achieve our shared mission to, ‘Nurture ambition, deliver excellence and enrich children’s lives’.
You will meet formally five times a year but will have many other opportunities to get to know the school through more informal visits and getting involved in life in our schools. Being a governor can be a richly rewarding experience and by serving our communities in this way you will be making a real difference to children and families.
