Relationships and Health education is learning to understand our growing bodies, emotions and relationships, as well as learning how to stay safe and respectful.

Relationships and Health Education is a statutory part of the National Curriculum which all schools must teach.

On this page you can find out all you need to know about what we teach, how we teach it and when.

We use the Kapow scheme of work to teach our RHE. Kapow is a nationally renowned resource, that ensures age-appropriate and logically sequenced learning for children. The scheme is implemented as a whole school approach with strands of learning relating to family and relationships, health and wellbeing, safety and the changing body, citizenship and economic wellbeing. There is a document below which you can download and read in full which details the Intent, implementation and impact of our approach.

RHE is delivered within our PSHE lessons, as part of the Kapow curriculum. This ensures that all learning is age-appropriate for our children. The scheme is implemented as a whole school approach within the following strands of learning:

  • Family and relationships
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Safety and the changing body.

Brave (icon)Brave

Children will build the confidence to ask questions, share their thoughts about their bodies, feelings and relationships, and seek support when needed. They learn how to recognise and respond to unsafe or uncomfortable situations, building resilience and self-awareness as they grow.

Kind (icon)Curious

Children learn to respect themselves and others, building empathy and understanding. They explore the importance of consent, kindness, and communication, developing skills that support positive friendships and emotional wellbeing throughout life.

Curious (icon)Kind

Children are encouraged to ask questions and learn in an age-appropriate, safe environment that supports curiosity and helps them to make sense of the world around them, including different families, relationships and experiences.
