Young Leader Groups

Welcome to our primary school's Young Leader Groups page, where you can learn about the inspiring initiatives led by our students. Below, you'll find detailed descriptions of each group and their impactful activities.

School Council - Mrs Scarisbrick

Coppice School Council is a group of elected pupils chosen to represent the voices and ideas within our school community. The School Council consists of children from each year group who meet regularly to discuss topics such as school events, fundraising activities, and ways to improve the school environment. Our School Council helps to develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills while supporting responsibility and active citizenship.

Eco Warriors - Mrs Nalder

Coppice Eco Council take an active role in looking after the school environment and promoting sustainable practices. We raise awareness of environmental issues and promote recycling, reducing waste, saving energy, and protecting wildlife.  Eco Warriors help to make positive changes in school to create a more sustainable future.

Reading Ambassadors - Miss Winterburn

At Coppice Valley Primary School, Reading Ambassadors play a key role in maintaining the school library and helping develop reading areas in classrooms. They keep the library organised and welcoming, while also writing mini book reviews and sharing them in reading areas around the school to inspire others.

Reading Ambassadors also gather feedback from their peers, helping to choose exciting and relevant books for all age groups. They take part in organising special events like Book Week, National Poetry Day, and World Book Day, bringing the joy of reading to the whole school. Along the way, they offer support and advice, to recommending books and sharing their love for reading.

Phunky Food Ambassadors - Miss Wright

The PhunkyFoods Ambassadors Scheme gives children the opportunity to build their confidence, leadership and develop new skills. They help to deliver key healthy eating messages through assemblies, classroom activities and the wider school community.

Forest School Rangers - Mrs Riley

At Coppice Valley Primary School, we have a pupil voice group called ‘Forest School Rangers’. In this group we look at resourcing, environment, initiatives, extra experiences and enhancements to our curriculum offer and vast grounds. We talk all things outdoors and Forest Schools, tools, environment and risky play. We discuss ideas and share experiences together. We would love parents to be involved, and if you become part of our team, you will certainly receive one of our special ‘Forest School Ranger’ badges.  The group is led by Mrs Riley and Mrs Brook (both certified Level 3 Forest School leaders with a love for the outdoors like our rangers).

BEAMS- Equality - Miss Hudson

At Coppice, the BEAMs team are there to spearhead the mission to celebrate and recognise equality and diversity. Whether it's putting on assemblies, listening to pupils concerns or brainstorming ideas to evolve and improve Coppice, the equality ambassadors and eager and ready.

Mental Health Ambassadors - Miss Wright

Our Mental Health Ambassadors promote mental health and wellbeing in school. They plan mental health awareness days and assemblies, encourage children to have open conversations about wellbeing, gather feedback from classes, and help develop strategies to support wellbeing within the school community.

STEM Leaders- Miss Ramsay

The STEM Ambassadors are a group of children who are bringing more awareness to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Our aim is to make other children more aware of what STEM is and help to inspire futures careers within STEM. Some of the projects we have been involved in are the RSC Young Peoples Book Prize and we are looking to organise a STEM week later in the year.

PE Ambassadors - Miss Baxter

Our PE Ambassadors are student leaders who promote physical education and school sports, encouraging participation and healthy lifestyles, and serving as role models for their peers. We have two children representing each class, voicing the children's views and sharing key information with their peers.

E-Safety Leaders - Miss Wright

Our E-safety leaders help promote online safety by encouraging safe and healthy device use through assemblies, awareness days, videos and leaflets. They support everyone in our school community in helping to create a safe and positive online environment.
